Hallie and Gabe’s Garden Engagement at the Highlands Mansion

There is something extra special about late spring engagement sessions. The gardens are overflowing, everything is green again, and the evenings have that soft, warm light that makes you want to stay outside just a little bit longer. Hallie and Gabe’s engagement session at Highlands Mansion gave us all of it.

From the moment we started walking through the gardens together, these two were incredibly sweet and easygoing. They came into their session ready to have fun, trust the process, and just enjoy being together—which, selfishly, is my favorite kind of energy to photograph.

And it didn’t take long for them to completely settle in.

One of my favorite things about engagement sessions is watching that initial feeling of “Okay, what do we do with our hands?!” disappear. With a little movement, a few prompts, and plenty of wandering around the property, Hallie and Gabe quickly forgot about the camera and fell into their own rhythm. The little looks, the laughs, the way they naturally reached for one another—it all felt incredibly genuine.

Highlands Mansion could not have given us a prettier backdrop. Between the blooming rhododendrons, lush gardens, historic stone architecture and that dreamy late-spring golden light, every little corner felt like it belonged in their session.

More than anything, though, I walked away from our evening together even more excited for their wedding. These two have such a comfortable, carefree sweetness between them, and if their engagement session was any indication, their wedding day is going to be filled with so much genuine joy.

Next spring, we get to do it all over again; only this time at The Manor House at Prophecy Creek, surrounded by all of their favorite people.

Hallie and Gabe, I cannot wait!
